How can I get physio?
Am I covered by my Private Health Insurance and how do I pay
?
This depends on your level of cover. We can give you the treatment
item numbers and then you will need to phone your insurer to obtain
details. Although we have been careful to keep our fees as low as
possible, we do appreciate that the cost for some patients is quite
significant. Consequently, we do give special consideration
to such cases on a "patient-by-patient" basis.
One way for patients with chronic conditions to access our
services is via Medicare's Chronic Disease Management
(CDM) program. To qualify, you need to have a long
standing condition that is assessed by your GP as requiring
physiotherapy. In this case, you will be permitted to have up
to five (5) physiotherapy visits in a 12 month period. An
information sheet is provided here.
We have deliberately left our fees low for those participating
in our exercise classes. This is to encourage patients to
take an active role in their own health and injury prevention by
attending one of our exercise classes. The fees for our
classes can attract a health rebate if you are privately
insured.
Mead Street Physio utilises the HICAPS electronic system
allowing us to process claims instantly through your health
insurance provider. Consequently, you will only be liable for
any gap. We also accept Visa, EFTPOS, cheque or cash.
Do I need a doctors referral?
With a few exceptions, you do not need a doctor's referral to
attend physio. The exceptions for which a referral is required are
claims involving Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Accidents and
Medicare.
How do I make an appointment and how many sessions will I need
?
To make an appointment to see one of our physios, please contact
the clinic on (08)9293 1800 or email us on
enquiries@meadstreetphysio.com.au.
Each appointment is 30 minutes long. The number of sessions
you require will vary according to the nature of your injury, your
age and lifestyle. An average of 5 sessions treats most
injuries. Prior to your appointment, please fill out the New
Client Form and bring it with you to your first appointment.

How do I get physio treatment for injuries suffered at work or
as a result of a car accident?
Initially you will need to see your doctor before coming to see
us. The doctor will provide you with a medical
certificate. If physio is required, it will be listed on this
certificate. As soon as possible, you will need to provide us
with a claim number along with a number of other details related to
your claim. This will allow the timely processing of your
claim.
Until your claim is accepted, you will need to accept the
responsibility of our bill, and so it is particularly important
that you actively participate in the early stages of your
claim. We encourage all patients with a WorkCover (www.workcover.wa.gov.au)
or motor vehicle accident claim (www.icwa.wa.gov.au)
attending our clinic to familiarise themselves with this process
.
